MY YACHT WORTH?
One of the joys of boating and cruising is to occasionally bring family along for the weekend or invite friends to join you for a few days on your longer cruise. On the Great Loop, for example, friends might want to join you as you transit the Trent Severn Waterway or the Rideau Canal. Not full-time crew, but for a few days or a week, it makes for lasting memories. Boating is simply better when you are among friends and family. And there is no better place to enjoy quality time than on the Nordic Tug 40. The two-stateroom layout on this tug is perfect for occasional guests to share the adventure.
The Nordic Tug 40 is the latest interpretation of the solidly built cruising boat Nordic Tugs first offered in 1998 with a Lynn Senour-designed, semi-displacement hull as a 37-footer. Over the years, this mid-sized tug yacht has evolved to be better in all ways and take advantage of new materials and technology. During its evolution, the tug became the Nordic Tug 39 (the LOA increased by including the swim platform). Refinements continue to be made, and today the Nordic Tug 40 offers great accommodations and more efficient systems to make your cruising easier and more enjoyable. It does it all superbly.
The partially covered cockpit is big enough for outdoor living, rather than simply a way to get on and off the boat. An optional starboard side boarding door makes boarding safe and easy without gymnastics, especially on floating docks. A transom door opens onto a large swim platform, every feature carefully thought out from owner feedback and experience. There are now molded steps at the base of the steps up to the boat deck, to make access to the upper deck safer and secure, even under way. This is especially important if you store the dinghy up top with the optional Steelhead winch and davit system, or if the boat has the optional flybridge package.
Imagine sitting together in the cockpit, sundowner in hand, watching the sun go down. It can be the start of lifelong memories on the Nordic Tug 40.
Two large sliding glass doors open into the saloon, bringing the world inside. There is a complete galley along the starboard side, with a spacious acrylic countertop extending the entire length of the saloon all the way aft. This is a fully functioning galley equipped to create a fine dining experience for guests and crew. As with all Nordic Tugs, there are many options to upgrade or modify the galley to satisfy anyone’s tastes and cooking preferences, including pullout freezer, icemaker, wine cooler, electric range, and three-burner gas stove with oven.
An additional countertop leaf can be raised when the sliding doors are open to extend the galley outside into the cockpit. Just imagine the fun times during a raft up on this tug!
Up from the saloon is the familiar Nordic Tug pilothouse. While all Nordic Tugs are known for outstanding visibility, the sightlines and general visibility on the Nordic Tug 40 are exceptional. There are no blind spots. The helm is on the starboard side, and the console is large enough for a full complement of electronics and the other controls and equipment of a modern cruising yacht. An adjustable pedestal helm chair is perfect for days running the boat, but it can be replaced with a double wide helm chair if cozy cruising is more to your liking. A wide bench seat is opposite on the port side. With two opening doors port and starboard, the view from this pilothouse is outstanding, and the light from the windows and doors is a sharp contrast to the dark interiors of many trawler yachts with smaller, tinted windows. It is hard to have a bad day on the water on this boat.
Two hatches lift from the pilothouse sole for easy access into the engine space. Nordic Tugs have always been known for good machinery access, and the Nordic Tug 40 is no exception. The boat has a single 380hp diesel, which is enough power to cruise the boat at 12 to 14 knots. A generator is standard. And the optional equipment list allows one to tailor the equipment in this machinery space to get precisely what they want to make maintenance easier and life aboard more enjoyable. From oil changing systems to upgraded generator with Seakeeper stabilization, Nordic Tugs will build it just for you.
The Nordic Tug 40 is designed for a couple with occasional guests, so the layout has two staterooms which share a single, large head with separate shower. The forward owner stateroom has a queen-sized island berth, and enough storage for clothes and accessories for the duration of a cruising adventure.
Today’s Nordic Tug 40 is a thoroughly modern version of the classic tug yacht, at a size that is perfect for a couple, roomy yet easily handled. As a well-known builder of tough, solid boats that can handle all cruising conditions, Nordic Tugs continues to raise the bar of its own high level of production standards, and enjoys an enviable position as premier builder of tug yachts in the U.S.
Check out the new Nordic Tug 40. It is a refined cruising boat that benefits from many years and sea miles. The builder listens to its community of owners, and the results are evident.
This tug yacht continues to prove a good choice for couples to spend time on the water together. Whether you want to chase rainbows, or simply watch the world go by, this yacht may be exactly the right yacht for you.
Come aboard and see for yourself.
