This Jones 60 foot Chesapeake Bay workboat was built in 2021 at the P.L. Jones boatyard located on Hooper's Island, located on the Eastern Shore in Dorchester County, Maryland. Phil Jones is a renowned boat builder in the Chesapeake region, having decades of boat building and repair experience. Jones arguably builds some of the finest commercial boats on the Bay. This boat was built off of Jones own ocean designed hull and is of modified V design, a planing hull and a flared bow. It has fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) construction with a deep FRP keel molded into the hull for enhanced stability. It was built as a buy boat for the mid-Chesapeake Bay seafood industry, hence the large open deck and huge cargo area. This boat is fully capable of handling massive loads and built for stability in the worst of conditions. Powered by an immaculate Caterpillar C32, 1200 horsepower powerplant, the boat reportedly tops out at 27 knots with a cruise speed of 22, impressive for a 56 gross-tons rated vessel.
