Seattle Yachts welcomes Bill Parlatore to the Seattle Yachts Marketing Team! Bill is the original founder of Passagemaker Magazine and has spent countless hours cruising inland waterways and oceans on powerboats from many builders. With his wealth of boating knowledge, Bill will continue his love of writing for Seattle Yachts as a marketing consultant and will be providing a monthly column featuring exciting new builds, advice for boat owners, and offer his opinion on a variety of yacht-related topics.
"We're thrilled to have Bill join our marketing team as an expert contributor," said Peter Whiting, Managing Partner of Seattle Yachts. "Part of our job as a new yacht dealer and brokerage firm is to educate our customers and new boaters on the nuances of yacht ownership, choosing the right vessel, and what to expect when you're two or three days into a month-long cruise. Bill brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table."
Bill began his love of boating in the 1970s sailing aboard a Morgan 27 that was raced out of Shilshole Bay in Seattle. He moved on to a Tahiti Ketch that he lived board on Lake Union. His experiences sailing and cruising led he and his wife, Laurene, to launch Passagemaker Magazine in 1995, which many viewed as the "bible of power cruising". The couple is also credited with creating TrawlerPort, the first of an event series within a boat show aimed at the trawler lifestyle, as well as the Trawler Fest event business.
Bill joins Marketing Consultant Phil Friedman on the Seattle Yachts team. As previous President and CEO of Palmer Johnson Yachts and Senior Editor at Power & Motor Yacht Magazine, Phil also has a tremendous amount of on-water cruising experience as well as with helping clients go through a new yacht build process. Phil has also written a book called "Ten Golden Rules For Successful New Build Projects" with more than 6,000 copies distributed worldwide. Phil has already written several articles for Seattle Yachts including:
- Comparing Single-Screw Versus Twin-Screw Propulsion
- The Slippery Facts Of Oil Change Intervals
- Sizing Your Genset To Run Cleaner And Greener
- Project Management For New Yacht Builds And Re-fits
"We are excited to have both Bill and Phil contributing to Seattle Yachts and being able to tap into their expertise," continued Peter. "Everyone needs to stay tuned to our social media channels. We may as well start our own boating magazine with all of the information we have to share!"
