Nimbus 495 Coupe

Nimbus 495 Coupe Details

Nimbus Boats’ newest flagship coupé cruiser, the Nimbus 495 Coupé, is an owner-operated cruising yacht conceived for people who want to travel farther, stay aboard longer, and do it without crew, while retaining the protected, practical “wheelhouse cruiser” DNA that has defined Nimbus for decades. Built on the proven 495 platform and sharing the same award-winning hull as the 495 Flybridge, the Coupé version refocuses the concept on what Nimbus describes as its most natural form: an enclosed, functional yacht designed for real coastal conditions and extended life aboard.

The 495 Coupé is purpose-built and is not just a new flybridge “minus the top”. The 495 Coupe will make its debut at the 2026 Boot Düsseldorf with owner deliveries beginning in early 2027.

Nimbus positions the 495 Coupé as its own model, designed around the way long-range, hands-on owners actually use their boats. Chief Designer Joacim Gustavsson frames the 495 Coupé as a return to Nimbus’ core idea - an enclosed cruiser that can feel open and light when you want it, and protected when you need it—while still leveraging the space, stability, and capability of the 495 hull.

WHAT'S NEW ON THE NIMBUS 495 COUPE'?

Nimbus is very explicit about what the 495 Coupé “gains” by deleting the flybridge: the design doesn’t just remove an upper deck, it reclaims volume and function for the kind of cruising that happens day after day on extended trips.

  • More light, more “Nimbus Coupé” feeling: Without the flybridge structure above, the 495 Coupé can have a significantly larger glass sunroof, bringing substantially more daylight into the saloon - an element Nimbus points to as a long-running hallmark of its Coupé line, now pushed further than previous models.
  • A new solution for sun management: electric exterior awning: Large roof glass is wonderful in cooler climates—but in strong sun it can create heat and glare. Nimbus answers that with an electric awning system mounted above the roof glass. With a button press, the exterior canopy shades the saloon while still allowing the roof openings to be used for ventilation, aiming to preserve the airy feel without turning the interior into a greenhouse.
  • A more capable galley (space reclaimed from the flybridge stairs): On the 495 Flybridge, part of the port-side galley footprint is taken up by the staircase to the upper deck. The Coupé converts that area back into usable kitchen volume, resulting in more counter space, more storage, and better workflow for two people operating in the galley at the same time, an important upgrade when the boat is used as a “liveaboard base,” not just a weekend escape.
  • Practical cruising storage where it matters: dedicated outerwear wardrobe: Nimbus also reuses the former flybridge stair volume to create aft-deck wardrobe storage - a purposeful home for wet jackets, boots, and foul-weather gear, separated from cabins and living areas. For anyone cruising in mixed conditions, this is one of those small-but-life-changing layout decisions.
  • More self-sufficiency potential: additional roof solar: With no flybridge occupying the roof, the 495 Coupé can accommodate additional solar panels, which Nimbus notes can extend time at anchor without generator use (even if solar alone won’t run high-demand loads like air conditioning indefinitely).
  • Roof storage enabled by the foldable mast housing: The Coupé’s roof design incorporates a recessed area created by the foldable mast housing, used as practical storage for gear that’s bulky, damp, or odorous—Nimbus calls out items like liferafts, SUPs, and inflatable equipment.
  • Interior character option: mahogany finish: For owners who prefer a warmer, more traditional Scandinavian cabin ambiance, Nimbus will offer a mahogany interior option, paired with a new oak sole and coordinated upholstery tones, explicitly referencing the feel of earlier Nimbus enclosed models.

A BOAT DESIGNED FOR THE GREAT LOOP

One of the most defining “mission” features of the 495 Coupé is simple and very real-world: bridge clearance.

Nimbus states that with its electrically foldable mast, the 495 Coupé achieves an air draft under 11.5 feet with the mast lowered opening access to rivers and lock systems that are otherwise off-limits to many 50-foot-class cruisers. Nimbus also explicitly notes this dimension is relevant for The Great Loop in North America (the inland-waterway circumnavigation route through the eastern U.S.).

Nimbus further notes that the Coupé can be specified with a shortened bathing platform that brings the overall length under 46 feet, which can matter for berth availability and certain registration considerations.

EASY HANDLING FOR THE OWNER/OPERATOR

The 495 Coupé is designed around the idea that a competent owner should be able to run the boat without crew with sightlines, the side-door position, and control systems set up to support single-handed or two-person operation.

Nimbus highlights that feedback from existing 495 Flybridge owners (using the same platform) reinforces that intent: modern maneuvering systems reduce stress, and owners report an easy sense of connection across the yacht between helm, galley, and salon - supported by elements like wide glass surfaces and the overall main-deck arrangement.

From a systems standpoint, Nimbus references features such as joystick control, assisted docking, and Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) among the platform’s capabilities.

BUILT FOR THE SEA

While the Coupé’s big story is the reclaimed volume and bridge-friendly profile, Nimbus is equally clear that the underlying 495 platform is meant to be a serious offshore-capable cruiser. Nimbus describes a hull built with vacuum-infused construction and a Divinycell core, emphasizing strength-to-weight efficiency. It also notes four structural bulkheads, vacuum-infused with the same core material, to create a hull that is torsionally rigid and quiet—minimizing the flex and noise associated with less substantial structures.

ACCOMMODATIONS LAYOUT

Nimbus lists the 495 platform as a three-cabin yacht, arranged as:

  • Owner’s cabin aft
  • VIP cabin forward
  • Starboard-side guest/utility cabin (with flexibility for use)

Nimbus also notes a configurable approach for the third cabin, such as an optional bunkbed or office/utility room, supporting different ownership profiles (families, long-distance couples, or owners who want a dedicated storage/work space).

OTHER OPTIONS AVAILABLE ON THE 495 COUPE'

Nimbus includes a substantial list of extra/optional equipment themes reinforcing the 495 Coupé’s long-stay, owner-operated brief. Examples listed include hydraulic bathing platform, expanded Garmin navigation/glass cockpit customization, air conditioning (chilled water), extra lithium battery capacity, stabilization, warping winches, diesel generator, diesel heating, dishwasher, ice maker, aft-deck wetbar, Wi-Fi/Starlink, washing machine, watermaker, electric gangway, and more.
