MY YACHT WORTH?
The new Endurance 650 long range cruiser is an exciting new yacht coming out of the Hampton yard in Shanghai. The 68-foot motoryacht has all the big boat qualities to become the ultimate cruising yacht for a discriminating yachtsman looking for a semi-custom build from a world-class yacht builder. In addition to the luxury and build finish one expects from a modern motoryacht, the Endurance 650, as do all yachts in the Endurance series, is also a capable long-range cruiser that can be the ideal vessel for one’s cruising adventures. All Endurance models are designed and built at the Hampton Yachts shipyard.
All new Endurance yachts begin with a hand-laid fiberglass hull, with Hampton’s proven longitudinal and transverse stringer system to ensure maximum strength to last a lifetime. Kevlar composite reinforcement material is well-known for its high strength and outstanding abrasion resistance, making it an essential component of the lamination schedule. The builder includes it below the waterline from chine to chine, as well as up forward to eliminate vulnerability to collision with underwater hazards.
The Endurance series hull design follows the exclusive Hampton Endurance hybrid hull shape that cleverly incorporates design enhancements for stability and efficiency when operated at slow, displacement speed up to a cruising speed of 12-15 knots. Created by naval architect Howard Apollonio, this unique hull form continues to ensure the Endurance line embodies the best of full displacement economy and semi-displacement efficiency.
The flybridge, decks, and deckhouse are built with closed-cell core for strength, insulation, and rigidity. The critical hull/deck joint is mechanically fastened and through-bolted every six inches as well as structurally bonded with 3M 5200 adhesive. (All exterior and interior structures are bonded to the hull for maximum strength.)
What is particularly exciting about the Endurance 650 and larger models in the Endurance line is the degree of available owner customization. The designers and engineers at Hampton Yachts, and the buyer’s broker, can work with clients to custom tailor an interior configuration that best fits their needs. The possible interior arrangements are significant.
For example, one can begin by evaluating a standard layout. Most consider a flybridge an important feature on a motoryacht. With excellent sightlines, it is the ideal location from which to operate the yacht on open water, enjoying a superlative view, with a complete helm with all controls for ships systems. Relaxed lounge space on the flybridge includes wrap-around seating, a complete summer kitchen, and dinghy storage with a heavy-duty davit system.
Covered side decks allow safe and protected access around the boat, port and starboard, from aft cockpit up to the foredeck. Many experienced yachtsmen prefer these side decks to asymmetrical layouts that sacrifice one of the side decks for interior space.
The salon is a comfortable living space just inside from the aft cockpit. With a combination of free-standing barrel chairs and built-in seating for reading, socializing, and lounging, one moves easily up to the pilothouse helm and galley just forward of the salon. An all-electric galley, using a design well-proven from years of cruising and living aboard, satisfies any cuisine or culinary mood. The galley is located near a spacious, U-shaped settee where crew relax while watching the world go by while planning the next segment of the adventure. This large settee is just a step away from the custom helm chairs on stainless steel pedestals that represent a great place to run the boat in company with family and friends.
Now consider the possibilities. The flybridge on the Endurance 650 can be ordered with an enclosure for year-round use, making the flybridge helm the primary command center for operating the yacht, eliminating the need for a lower helm. Fully air conditioned and heated, an enclosed flybridge offers the best location for a helm, while retaining the safety and protection from weather and sun.
Putting the primary helm inside this enclosed flybridge opens up the interior for many exciting layout choices. To better use this interior space, one can move the galley and breakfast bar forward to make space for a formal dining room table and chairs. For many motoryacht owners, this is much preferred over often cramped eating around a settee and table.
Other possible layout choices without a lower helm include a long U-shaped settee and table that extend the full width of the salon. This is a great alternative to a dining room table and seating.
In addition to other interior options, one can choose a day head located off the aft cockpit, a convenience that many guests will appreciate when spending quality time swimming, lounging, and relaxing on the spacious aft deck.
Generous allowances are included in every new Endurance 650 to tailor the interior décor to fit one’s taste and style, from fabric choices to tableware. An electronics allowance is also standard to allow owners to equip a new yacht with their choice of navigation, communications, and other electronics.
The three staterooms of the Endurance 650 are comfortable and luxurious cabins for owners, guests, and family. The midship master stateroom and ensuite head is roomy and complete in every detail. It will please the most demanding owners. The forward VIP stateroom has a large island berth and lockers and other storage for living aboard for extended periods. There is also a guest cabin between the VIP and master staterooms. The guest staterooms share a large head with separate shower.
All Endurance models are constructed with an eye towards accessibility and the service requirements of the engines, generators, and other machinery. The yacht comes with two 1000hp diesel engines, 20kW and 16kW generators, and access to fuel management and other systems. The batteries and air conditioning units are located in the separate rear lazarette, large enough to also include comfortable crew quarters separated from owner living spaces.
Air conditioning is a popular option for the engine room, in consideration of service technicians who come aboard to maintain the yacht’s main engines, generators, hydraulics, and other systems.
It is often the subtle details that make the difference, and it is no surprise that Hampton Yachts uses only high-quality materials in their construction and choice of equipment and machinery. Stainless-steel handrails and fittings are the highest quality, custom made onsite by the talented and experienced fabricators. Powerful Wesmar hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, high-end GE appliances, Muir hydraulic windlass, Tecma toilets, and other top-shelf brands are standard on every Endurance yacht.
The builder’s reputation for beautiful cabinetry and trim, quality fiberglass work, and attention to detail is well earned. There is a reason why Hampton’s Endurance long-range cruising yachts are popular.
Every Endurance yacht is built under careful supervision of Hampton’s seasoned project managers and engineers, as well as the Seattle Yachts broker involved with each new build.
The Endurance 650 appeals to those looking for the uniqueness of a semi-custom yacht that has the luxury and home-like accommodations of a motoryacht that can go the distance and take one’s family on its next adventure.
