MY YACHT WORTH?
The key to understanding the position of Outer Reef yachts in the market is found in the company’s own description of its product. Outer Reef has always billed its yachts as “classic, high-quality, blue-water vessels that are built to go the distance”.
For nearly two decades, Outer Reef’s emphasis has been on refined execution and conservative evolution. Which can in many cases be a very good thing. The company’s line of explorer-style cruising motor yachts ranges from 55 to 115 feet LOA and is solidly middle-of-the-road in most aspects of its design and engineering, with semi-displacement hull forms, classic swept sheer lines and pilothouse superstructure profiles. Interiors in the earlier models were also in the Taiwan tradition of the time — solid hardwood and hardwood veneers in natural colors and finishes.
(Seattle Yachts provides access to thousands of boats and yachts available on the market today. These new and used yachts for sale around the world and on the MLS may or may not be listed with Seattle Yachts, however we have the expert team on staff to help you with the purchase of any brand or type of boat.)
Outer Reef was founded by Jeff Druek who came to boatbuilding from a background in ultra-custom home building in the affluent community of the Hamptons, on Long Island, New York. Druek reportedly had been shopping the Taiwan new-build market at a time when builders there resisted making many, if any custom changes. So, Druek decided to have his own yacht built to his own specifications. And ever since then, the company has made it a cornerstone of their operation to meet the demand for customization that so many buyers of yachts for extended cruising and liveaboard exhibit.
Consequently, even though a group of several Outer Reef yachts may appear superficially to be identical, they may, in fact, be significantly different in important ways from one another. It’s, therefore, important that the broker you’re relying upon to help you find the yacht best suited to your needs understands and can identify these differences.
When searching for and previewing Outer Reef yachts, our Seattle Yachts brokerage team know what to look for when it comes to identifying the comparative features of these yachts. Our focus and concern extend well beyond simply checking year built, accumulated engine hours, and asking price. We can pre-screen potential candidates and order them for you in terms of how closely or not they match your precise preferences and requirements. If you’re interested in finding the “right” Outer Reef yacht, one that represents the best all-around value, call or email us so we can talk.
